St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Chicago

Of course this little Irish lassie got herself out on the town for Chicago's St. Patrick's Day celebration. AND had the traditional big green hat in tow. I received many comments and looks...most of them good.

My friend Sarah was in town for the festivities and we headed down to Lizzie McNeil's Saturday around 9am. We met up with Janet and Mary in the cutie crammed bar (oh my goodness) and we were able to watch the Chicago River go green. Quite an event.

We then made our way to Kitty O'Shea's down on Michigan Avenue. While we had to wait in line for about an hour, it was worth it, as our friends Jennifer and Kim were already inside and were able to bring out beers for us while we waited. And it was worth the wait....even though Sarah and I were starving! Apparently Kitty O'Shea's was reprimanded last year for the number of people they had packed into the bar, so they were really patroling the doors. However, it was nice to walk into a bar and be able to move around in it, so the wait was worth it.
Once inside we made friends with many groups, including a group from NYFD. Nice.

Sarah and I had to leave the bars around 3pm so that she could get to the airport for her flight back to MN, and while I was saddened to leave the party, it was a good thing. I was able to take a 3 hour disco nap and then head out with other friends later in the night. While I was refreshed and ready for Round 2, my friends were barely standing up, so it ended up being an early night for this Irish lassie.

I hope you all had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day Celebration!! And I raised a pint of Guinness for all of you.
