Book Review: August 2011

Another fluff book for you to check out, The Soldiers Wife by Margaret Leroy. The story takes place during WWII when the Nazis invade Guernsey, a tiny island south of England. A woman whose husband has gone to fight for England, is left with her two daughters and the big decision to stay on the island or leave. She ends up staying and falling in love with a German soldier. It's a touching love story during a time when love was lost. I recommend this book!

Zenner Family Reunion

With my parents and some aunts and uncles hitting the big 6-0, they decided to throw a party for themselves. Why not? My Aunt Dani and Uncle Jeff hosted the bash, and that it was. A pig roast, beer on tap, and live entertainment...including a reunion of the Zenner band!! Good times, good times.
Cassie is crooning 'At Last', while all the lovers dance away. So fun!

Like mother, like daughter, like daughter. Grandma didn't get up to perform, but both Dani and Cassie serenaded us and rocked out. I was so excited to finally hear some of these songs live!!

AJ was able to join me on this trip back to MN and it was so nice for him to meet my dad's side of the family. Of course they loved him, especially when he took on my cousin's in bocce ball. Go baby!

It was a great weekend back in MN (including meeting up with best friends Friday night at our old hang-out, Bunkers). I'm so happy to have been a part of the celebrations!

Book Review: July 2011

Because it's summer, I have drifted to some fluff reading, but it's been good. For my book in July, I read The Violets of March by Sarah Jio. It is a beautifully written book, with a little mystery and intrigue, and a really touching love story. The perfect book for a day at the beach, so why don't you check it out?
