Book Review: June 2010

I have two amazing books to share with you, dear readers.

The first book is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. It was an eye-opening experience to read this book. Henrietta was an African-American woman who died of cervical cancer in the 1950s. Unbeknownst to her, and her family, her doctor took some of her cells for research. What happened next is amazing. But I'm not going to tell you, you have to get out and get this book. Educate yourself and be amazed!

The second book is a recommendation from my women's networking group. It is The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It's a simple story and one that can be applied to not only your business life, but also your personal life. And it's not anything new, but a lesson that we all need to remember. Because at the end of the day, the more we give, the better we feel, the better we are, and honestly, the more we get back in return. Run out and get this book now!

Happy Reading!

Amazing Celebration of Two Friends

I was blessed to make it back to MN for the wedding of my dear friend Scott and his fiancee, Jessica! Scott and I have been best friends since high school and I remember 5 years ago when he brought Jessica to the fireworks display for their 1st, or maybe 2nd, date. I knew instantly that they were meant to be together and was so excited to finally see them get married!

Scott and Jessica incorporated their personality and sense of style into their entire wedding - from their classic cars as transportation, to the attire they wore, to the teal, red, white and black stationery. Famous Dave's catered the reception a rockin' Rockabily band had us out of our seats the entire night! It was perfect.

I'm so happy for my friends! Aren't they adorable?

Jessica's dress, shoes, hair, makeup - PERFECT! I loved how her dress moved while Scott was twirling her on the dance floor!

The following are a few pics of the best friends that were in attendance, as well as our madness over the photobooth! You'll notice I went a little retro for the wedding too! It was so fun!

Again, congratulations, Scott and Jessica! We love you!
