Book Review: March 2011

Hello Happy Readers!
A book review for you:

The book is What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt. I enjoyed this book, with the exception of the third part of the novel. I do believe the story should have ended after the second part. It is definitely an interesting look back at one's life and how certain circumstances can change the path of a person, a marriage, and a parent, but as I mentioned, the last part of the book just got wierd. Let me know what you think. :-)

Childhood Memories

I took a long weekend and went back to Long Prairie to start packing up some items in the house. In doing so, I found the only original Cabbage Patch doll that I received as a kid. This was a premiee doll that smelled like baby powder. Well the baby powder was injected into the plastic head of the doll, and after many years, I now have a leper doll. Well, since I knew that no one would want to play with her, I had her hug another stuffed animal that had seen better days and horror upon horrors, I threw them in the trash. I almost started crying as I was having flash backs of "Toy Story 3". But at least they had a friend.

St. Patrick's Day

I had two St. Patrick's Day celebrations this year. Yes, I'm a lucky girl. The first celebration was in Chicago. My best friend, Janet, and I took the city by storm. We started the day at a house party. And I think that was the best theme party I had ever attended. The hostess went all out in the decor, as well as the food and drink. So much fun!
When the group made their way on a pub crawl, Janet and I met some friends out at a pub. Good food and good live music, but we couldn't just stay in one spot. On to the next one!
It was a fun day, but we didn't run into as many fun-loving party-ers that day. That was a little sad.

The second celebration was in Mpls. I flew there on the 17th and was able to have a pint with some of my dear friends and one of my favorite places. It was so great to celebrate the day with friends!
Until next year...enjoy your Guinness!
